The solution includes all necessary steps for full implementation of interactive services compliant with the DTVi standard, including:

• Ginga (DTVi) application develoment environment;
• set-top box emulation tools to test the applications;
• access to external databases and repositories to obtain dinamic information of the applications;
• publishing of the applications to a data carousel generator system;
• multiplexing Ginga (DTVi) applications with audio and video content;
• synchronization of applications with the audio and video content;
• low power transmission of the applications using ISDB-T standard;
• reception of the applications in receivers and set-top boxes complaint with DTVi standard;
• access to the Internet by the applications which use the interactive channel;
• on-line interactive services processing in return channel servers.

The following are the main components of the EiTV’s ISDB-T DTVi Lab solution.

APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT

The main component of the application development environment is EiTV Developer Suite, which includes authoring and emulation tools, as well as the publishing tools to access external databases and repositories, and automated sending of the applications for data carousel generator.

INTERACTIVE DIGITAL TV GENERATOR STATION

For the interactive digital TV generator station, the solution includes the equipment EiTV Playout that besides being responsible for generating the data carousel containing applications Ginga (DTVi) can also perform the following functions: PSI/SI, EPG, multiplexer, re-multiplexer and ISDB-T modulator. EiTV can also provide the HD, SD and 1SEG encoders (EiTV ISDB-T Dual Channel Encoder) and the low power ISDB-T transmitter (1 Watt transmitter with 3 elements Yagi antenna).

LAB USER

For the lab user the solution includes a development set-top box complaint with DTVi standard, the EiTV smartBox. This set-top box allows the loading of DTVi applications transmitted over the air, by the Internet or local network.

RETURN CHANNEL SERVER

The EiTV’s ISDB-T DTVi Lab solution also includes professional digital TV consulting services for mouting and installation of return channel servers.
